Super Stardust HD

I usually have no idea what's happening.
My husband and I have been a little obsessed recently with Super Stardust HD, which we picked up as part of Sony's Welcome Back program.  As it had no charge (besides the mild inconvenience of not being able to use the PSN for a while), the ROI of playtime:money is practically infinite.  A top-down, dual analog stick shooter with a fun co-op mode only ruined when your life partner decides that - even though he already has one - to run for the uber powerful Shield upgrade.

If you weren't mildly inconvenienced or picked other games, Super Stardust HD is worth its puny $7 pricetag.  The music does a phenomenal job of inducing frenzy as you play through 25 designed phases on five different planets.

Flash Game Friday: Upgrade Completer!

Fire all lasers!

I think I've spoken before about my love of the meta-game of acheiving things and upgrading things and watching bars fill up to bursting completeness.

You can get a feel for this by playing Upgrade Completer!

Everything is upgradable, even the grammar of the upgrade menu!  You even have to buy certain upgrades before you actually play, and once you do, you'll be rewarded with a fun little shump shooter game.  Eventually, your upgrades make the game batshit crazy easy, but it's totally worth the couple hours you'll throw down in its throws of interest.

Flash Game Friday: The Farplane Wars

The Farplane Wars is a Flash game I discovered via /r/WebGames on Reddit.  The developer himself submitted the game for Reddit's review, so I thought I'd give it a playthrough.

There's a lot going on in this Friday-diversion.  It's largely a resource management/space sim, with some shump (or fixed shooter) gameplay, a little platforming, and a little point and click adventuring.  It's like the developer thought: "why can't one Flash game have it all?"

While the game is fun enough, I did start to get bored with it.  It's got a fairly good story, considering, and the art, while MS-Paint-ish, fits the mood okay, which doesn't take itself entirely seriously (even though aliens are invading known space, and blah blah blah).  If you're looking for something different, definately check this one out.
